The Prophet By Kahlil Gibran

The Prophet By Kahlil Gibran

I am so excited to be here, finally writing at Mango Jane. Since I last wrote here, Southern California has opened up and the quarantine is officially over for now.

I am beyond happy to be back here publishing books from my heart’s content, books that have inspired my soul and made my life feel more complete by reading passages from books that have enlightened my spirit with imagery, feelings and words that carry me forward.
However, during this time I did work on design and branding ideas for the books to come. I let go of some original thinking and let my heart lead the design instead. In silence and moments alone, sometimes a new and wonderful idea will present itself and its up to us to say “Yes” or not.

Back to getting back to publishing and moving forward and looking back just for a moment of those two hazy months of quarantine, my yoga practice and breathing exercises grounded me…of course besides prayer and faith and love for this beautiful life has helped me continue to find more peace of mind. I also worked  on my podcast “The Inspired Mind,” shares some breathing lessons, gentle yoga, and fun times from the Sunshine Club with my furbabies. Through trials and hardships, a beauty can emerge. Onward as Liz says…

I have a few books finally coming out by Mango Jane Publishing.

The first will be a classic book I read during the early 90’s called The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran (Gi-Bran).  (Click link on why he is so beloved-a BBC article on his life and books).

One of the fun things about publishing public domain books is researching the book I am publishing for Mango Jane Books and then adding that ‘Something New’ that makes it worthy of a new printing.

Did You Know?

  • The Prophet was first published in 1923
  • Over 9 million copies have sold in the USA since it’s printing
  • It’s been translated into 20 other languages (some say more)
  • It’s never been out of print

He was one of the world’s best selling poets of all times. A Lebanese-American poet, philosopher, artist and writer, Kahlil Gibran has a wide range of devout followers all over the world still today, including Selma Hayek, Video Here.

“I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke and I saw that life is all service. I served and I saw that service is joy.”

“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.”

“All of your hours are wings that beat through space from self to self.”

“You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth. “

What makes a Mango Jane Public Domain Book Unique?

  • “Did You Know?” Feature included at the beginning of each book.
  • EXTRAS in the back of each book, like a Journal chapter, recommended reading or quotes that capture the essence of the book.
  • New MODERN BOOK DESIGN on your favorite classic literature book.
  • Affordable pricing for E Books and all paperback books are under $8.95
  • Each book is crafted with love and care and hours of work to bring to you the book you are holding in your hand via E book or paperback.

Usually when I design a book cover, I have a readily available idea of how to create the cover. However with The Prophet, I felt challenged to let go of the idea of what I thin ‘it should look like’ and listen to the beauty of the words inside help me design what I feel when I read these passages inside. The book cover design came from my inner heart of loving the BEAUTY of the words, feeling inside these pages and realized the book cover must have that touch, too. What’s fun about starting from ground zero, you can take new ideas and put them to test and just throw the the old ones because it’s still the beginning.

That’s what’s happening with the Public Domain books, each one has a different emotion within and instead of branding books on ‘same recognizable fonts,’ in a basic format, the book cover design is half the fun of publishing the books. That’s why I love to read, to uncover the mystery inside the book I am holding and discover the new characters and worlds to imagine, enjoy and learn from by experiencing something fresh and new, even if it’s fictional, or maybe it’s beautiful poetry like Kahlil Gibran’s Beloved Book, THE PROPHET.

Be Kind and Have an Inspired Mind.
