The life Triumphant book by James Allen
“FOR THOSE WHO WILL FIGHT BRAVELY and not yield, there is triumphant victory over all the dark things of life. I state this at the beginning, that the reader may know there is no uncertainty about it. In the course of this book, I shall show what are the elements, in character and conduct, which go to build up the life of calm strength and superlative victory.
To stand face to face with truth; to arrive, after innumerable wanderings and pains, at wisdom and bliss; not to be finally defeated and cast out, but ultimately to triumph over every inward foe—such is man’s divine destiny, such his glorious goal. And this, every saint, sage, and savior has declared.
In the present stage of the life of humanity, comparatively few reach this place of triumph—though all will reach it at last—yet there is a glorious company of perfect ones who have attained in the past, and their number is being added to with each succeeding age. Men are as yet learners in the school of life, and most men die learners. But there are some who, in this life, through fixity of purpose and strenuous fighting against darkness, pain, and ignorance, acquire a right knowledge of life and pass joyfully beyond the pupil stage.” – James Allen, excerpt from The Life Triumphant: Mastering the Heart and Mind.
So goes the beginning of the first book Mango Jane Publishing is taking time to create this month. James Allen was a Victorian English philosopher and writer who yearned to understand the depths of the human soul and how we can master and create our own lives. I remember reading James Allen’s little book in 1999 for the first time. I had picked it up from a Barnes and Noble little classic section, with the price sticker marked, $6.95. I had no idea when I purchased this book that I was about to embark on a lifelong journey of uncovering and publishing James Allen’s books.
I still remember the quote that made me sit straight up in bed, while I was staying at a gorgeous bed and breakfast in Santa Barbara one Thanksgiving weekend. Are you ready for the quote, dearest reader? Get ready, it’s pretty spectacular:
“Dreamers are the saviors of the world.”
Then Mr. James Allen listed all of the visionary great dreamers as a way of stating his claim to this universal truth.
I love what a scholar James Allen was on the Bible. I like how he used the Bible for positivity and not fire and brimstone or throwing stones at your neighbors. Nothing is more unsettling to me than someone that is pious and righteous with their belief system and cast judgment on others.
So here we go, 2022. Let’s set the record straight with better philosophy.
Let us understand how to become better human beings so we can hate less and love more. Let us shine a light on the good in the world and stop judging each other so harshly. Let us stop finding stones to throw at the next person due to opposing views. Let us take the path of kindness and compassion. Let us lift each other up with powerful words that break HATE wide open. This book has the power to do that. I hope this new contemporary cover, edition with quotes from AS A MAN THINKETH, attracts new readers to discover the beautiful spirit of love inside these pages.
